Great British poet Alfred Lord Tennyson's most everlasting work was perhaps not his "Charge of the Light Brigade" but rather his single, solitary venture into humor.
Yes - for it was he who originally composed the world famous "My dog's got no nose..." joke back in 1859 upon returning from a particularly vigorous, but unsuccessful afternoon of ferreting with his dog, Rover.
